  Comment on proposal

What I became interested in thanks to this theme is the fact there is a carbon cycle that is similar to the food chain on this earth, and despite the fact our lives are part of that cycle, we are usually hardly aware of it.
With WOOD STICK, I designed how the waste generated by using the pencil is viewed.
From where and to where do things we encounter daily come and go?
My objective was to let people imagine such a story, even if only a little.

Pencil shavings are merely garbage; they are eventually burned whereupon they emit carbon dioxide and disappear. However, by devising the proportions of the garbage tube, the designer created a visualization of the temporal process of sharpening a pencil in a manner that resembled tree rings. Although the design merely adds a modest amount of information and is not really a measure to reduce the actual amount of emissions from garbage, this proposal inspires us to think about where carbon goes.
